Alan Chiu is the co-founder and managing partner of ELLALAN. He specializes in intellectual property, technology and entertainment matters and is an award-winning lawyer having received over 50 accolades, including recent recognition by Asian Legal Business in 2021 as Asia Top 15 IP Lawyers, Asia Super 50 Dispute Lawyers and finalist of Managing Partner of the Year (Hong Kong).

Alan has 20 years’ experience in advising on a full spectrum of both contentious and non-contentious IP matters, ranging from anti-counterfeiting, IP enforcement and litigation, IP portfolio management, IP audit and commercialization, to licensing and franchising. He is renowned for his sophisticated enforcement tactics and has handled a number of high-profile IP litigation and cross-border IP enforcement matters.

With an IT forensic background, Alan advises extensively on technology related matters such as data privacy, cybersecurity, e-commerce, cryptocurrency, NFT, blockchain, metaverse, big data, etc. He also has a substantial entertainment practice covering a wide range of personality rights and other legal issues surrounding the media and entertainment sector.

Alan passed the very first Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination held in 2021 and is going to qualify as a Greater Bay Area lawyer soon. He is an adjunct professor of law (Hong Kong Shue Yan University), an accredited mediator, a China Appointed Attesting Officer appointed by the PRC Ministry of Justice and a Practising Member of the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal. He is also a member of the InnoTech Committee and Practice Management Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
